Haematology is the study of all diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs. This surgical specialty deals with the diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders and with the diagnosis and treatment of blood-clotting disorders in the context of haemostaseology. Furthermore, haematology studies all haematological malignancies, which can also be classed as leukaemia. Medical oncology then deals with these haematological malignancies.
